Top Metro cop Minnaar bows out!
AFTER 41 years of service, the face of the Joburg Metro Police has given his final salute.
On Monday, 28 February, Wayne Minnaar conducted his last road block in Martindale, Joburg before retiring.
Speaking to those he would be leaving behind, he said: “The learning curve is to always be true to the badge, the community you serve and wear the uniform with utter integrity.”
Minnaar hoped those he leaves behind would continue the scholar patrol programme, as he had always loved kids.
He started his career in 1981. and was promoted as assistant superintendent in 1992. In 1996, Minnaar took over the scholar patrol programme and became Metro police spokesman in 2001.
Joburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse said: “You not only inspire, educate and inform us, you make it fashionable to do the right thing.”
