Amorim Shares Insights on His ‘Fluid’ Strategy for Man U
Ruben Amorim will manage Manchester United for the first time in a home match at Old Trafford this evening as they face Bodo Glimt in the Europa League at 10pm.
Amorim oversaw his inaugural game with the club over the weekend, where they played to a 1-1 draw against Ipswich in the Premier League.
However, the Norwegian side Bodo Glimt would be making a groot error if they believe that the United team that squandered a 1-0 lead at the weekend will show up at Old Trafford tonight.
As stated by Amorim, their formation and team setup will shift elke week.
In his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, when asked about the players’ adjustment to his tactics, the coach responded: “I clarified why we encountered some challenges in the first half [against Ipswich]. It wasn’t a player issue; it was on me.
“I’m confident we can play using various systems. At times, we defended in a 4-4-2.”
“We must be versatile with our formations as teams nowadays adapt their strategies. I believe our strength lies in the ability to alter our formation for each game.”
To date, United has secured only one victory out of their four European matches, with captain Bruno Fernandes commenting on adapting to Amorim’s approach: “I am aware of what the Sporting players [from Amorim’s previous club] were doing… I followed their games.
“When I join the national team, we sometimes play with a back-three, occasionally I take on the No.10 role, and at times I play wide. Movement is essential…
“It’s about maximizing what you can from the dynamics. As the manager has indicated, there’s no need for excessive thinking; you just need a solid base and foundation.”
Currently, United sits in 15th place with six points while Glimt is in 12th with seven points.
