Killers of Gebou’s Boss Remain At Large

Authorities have yet to apprehend the murderers of a construction executive from Cape Flats who was shot dead in Mitchells Plain just days after his release on R250,000 bail by the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court.

More than two months following the assassination of Abdul Kader Davids, who was facing corruption allegations alongside former DA Mayco Member Malusi Booi and the purported 28s gang leader Ralph Stanfield, law enforcement is urging anyone with pertinent information to step forward.

Davids was killed in a barrage of gunfire while walking along Ascot Street in Beacon Valley at approximately 9 PM on September 19.

He had been implicated in a City of Cape Town investigation into collusion involving tenders with Stanfield’s spouse, Nicole Johnson.

As the sole director of ZSM Developers, Davids was charged alongside Booi in a massive tender corruption case valued at around R1 billion.

Scrutiny fell upon Davids in July when City Manager Lungelo Mbandazyo disclosed that he allegedly collaborated with Johnson and Mohammed Amod of the Boon Group in the tender application process.

A handwriting analyst determined that the tender submissions from all three individuals were penned by a single person, purportedly to ensure Johnson retained control.

Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the ZSM Developers tender application, competing against Johnson’s firm, was also signed by her mother, Barbara Davids, who lives in Beacon Valley.

Despite claiming to be merely a cleaner who could only manage R2,500, Davids was granted bail of R250,000.

A source reported that he was walking in the street when he was fatally shot.

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed that no arrests have been made as of yet.

“We appeal to anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the investigating officer, Detective Captain Andre Arendse at 071 319 0380, or Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or use the MYSAPS application to provide information anonymously.”
