Sold Out Sundowns vs. Pirates Match at Loftus Stadium

Mamelodi Sundowns has announced that their upcoming Betway Premiership match against Orlando Pirates at Loftus Stadium this weekend is fully sold out.

Sundowns is advising ticket holders to arrive early for what promises to be an exciting match between the two top teams in the league standings.

Currently, Sundowns leads the Betway Premiership with 36 points from 13 matches, while Pirates is in second place with 30 points, having played one fewer match.

Sundowns maintained their top spot with a commanding 4-0 victory over Golden Arrows at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday. In contrast, Pirates narrowly defeated their rivals Kaizer Chiefs with a 1-0 win at FNB Stadium on Saturday, also in front of a full house.

This matchup will be the first league battle this season between these two intense title rivals.

Their last encounter was the Nedbank Cup final on June 1 at Mbombela Stadium, where Pirates claimed victory with a 2-1 scoreline, thanks to a last-minute winner from Relebohile Mofokeng.

This marked the second occasion last season that Pirates triumphed over Sundowns in a cup final, having previously won through penalties in the MTN8 held in Durban.

Despite these cup successes, Pirates have finished as runners-up in the league table for the past two seasons.
