Tragic Accident Claims Life of Schoolboy
A devastating incident has impacted the family of Krugersdorp High student Retshegofetse Sennelo, who tragically passed away after an unforeseen accident during a school cricket match over the weekend.
According to a post shared on social media, the young athlete was critically injured during a collision with a teammate at Christian Brothers’ College in Boksburg on Saturday.
Principal Ivan Bailey reported that emergency medical personnel arrived promptly on the scene, and Retshegofetse was transported to Netcare Sunward Park.
The other player involved was taken to a hospital in Krugersdorp, with his parents’ supervision, and was later released.
Bailey further explained, “After undergoing an urgent operation at Sunward Park, the medical team was unable to control the internal bleeding, and Retshegofetse sadly passed away in the operating room.”
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to Olga Sennelo, our SGB Chairperson, Gomolemo, his brother, the entire family, and KHS staff who were with me at the hospital.
“Our thoughts are with Retshegofetse’s cherished teammates and coaches, Sandile and Nene, who will require our unwavering support along with his friends at school.”
People have come to the school’s social media pages to express their condolences to the grieving family.
Tholakele Selepe commented: “This is incredibly heartbreaking. I can hardly comprehend it. It feels like I knew him, yet I didn’t. I can’t imagine the pain the family is enduring. Such tragic news. My deepest sympathies to the entire family and his team. To the teammate involved in the collision, stay strong.”
