CHIPPA AND CITY LADS: LADIES RECLAIM THEIR CROWNS

The last weekend of July witnessed East London mense experiencing an exhilarating finish to the final leg of the Engen Knockout Challenge at Dale College, as City Lads Ladies and Chippa United clinched their provincial titles impressively, securing their spots at the prestigious Engen Champ of Champs in October.

On Sunday, the Eastern Cape’s elite youth spanne showcased jitz football that honored the tournament’s legacy as a springboard for South Africa’s future talents.

In the girls’ division, City Lads Ladies narrowly triumphed over defending champions Nav Galaxy Ladies with a hard-fought 1-0 victory, regaining the title they last held in 2023. The match was a tactical showdown from beginning to end, where City Lads’ discipline and determination made all the difference.

In the boys’ division, Chippa United confidently secured a 2-0 victory against Red Lions, marking their return to the top after a year away.

The tournament embodied the spirit of the 2025 theme, “It’s Your Moment, Future Diski Legends,” as players stepped into the limelight with pride and purpose.

Now that all provincial rounds are concluded, all paths lead to the Engen Champ of Champs, where City Lads Ladies and Chippa United will proudly represent the Eastern Cape. The tournament will unite the best youth teams from across South Africa to compete for national honors.
