NIGHTMARE NEIGHBORS
TWO women from Belhar report that they are suffering due to unruly neighbors who petrol-bombed their home on Sunday after years of complaints.
Priscilla Eagles and her elderly mother, who is paralyzed, reside in Extension 16 and have faced continuous issues with a particular neighbor.
This neighbor and his associates reportedly play loud music and hold parties until the early hours of the morning.
Despite multiple calls to the authorities, no action has been taken.
Eagles disclosed that the situation escalated on Sunday around 5am when the neighbors allegedly retaliated by stoning their home, tossing beer bottles, and reportedly throwing two petrol bombs.
“The first petrol bomb was thrown at 7am, leading to the burning of our DStv and wires, followed by the second petrol bomb around 8am,” she explained.
“Later, around 11am, a bakkie arrived and resumed throwing stones at our house. They even cut the net off our gate. We called the police, who only arrived in the afternoon. It feels like the police have let us down. After they left, the harassment continued. It felt as if we were in a war.”
Previously, Eagles turned to TikTok to air her grievances regarding the loud music and disrespect from her neighbors in hopes of finding help.
She expressed that they live in fear due to the unruly neighbors, stating: “Since I received no assistance from authorities, I started making TikTok videos. We even initiated a petition, but it led nowhere. I have also received threats stating they would keep us hostage in our own home.”
“It feels like a group of people has united against me because I constantly complain. One woman even approached me and said, ‘Yeah, your n**i, make more TikTok videos, and this will happen.’”
Police spokesperson Captain F.C. Van Wyk confirmed that a case has been opened, stating: “Be advised that the mentioned case number pertains to an attempted arson case registered at Belhar SAPS for investigation. According to reports, the incident occurred between 5am and 7:17pm on 2025-07-27 at a premises on Bloemendal Avenue, Belhar. Investigations are ongoing.”
