Kutumela Set for Move to AmaZulu

Sportswire reports indicate that striker Thabiso Kutumela is nearing a transfer to AmaZulu.

Kutumela has been without a club since leaving Richards Bay, a neighboring team to AmaZulu, after last season. Despite this, he showcased his talent by scoring during the recent CHAN tournament in East Africa.

In the four matches played by the Bafana Bafana team under coach Molefi Ntseki, Kutumela netted three goals. However, the team failed to progress past the group stage after conceding two late goals to Uganda, ending in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

The 32-year-old forward demonstrated his impressive form throughout the tournament, proving he remains capable of competing at a high level even while unattached.

If his transfer to AmaZulu is completed, it will mark his third club in KwaZulu-Natal. He previously played for Maritzburg United (now known as Durban City) before joining Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of the 2021/22 season.

Sources from Sportswire indicate that Sundowns invested a considerable transfer fee to sign him, which was a record amount for Maritzburg at that time.

During his time with Sundowns, Kutumela clinched two league titles, the Nedbank Cup, and the MTN8. However, a surge in competition for playing time led him to be loaned to Cape Town City for the 2023/24 season.

After his loan ended, Sundowns confirmed his departure, which set the stage for his signing with Richards Bay. At the Natal Rich Boys, he managed to net just one goal in 11 appearances across all competitions.
