Cat Beheaders Should Be in the Inner Circle
Five kittens were discovered with their heads severed in Hanover Park, causing outrage within the community over this vile act of animal cruelty.
Kashiefa Mohammed, Media Officer for the Hanover Park Community Policing Forum (CPF), reported that the cats were found on Lansur Road on Tuesday, describing the incident as horrific.
Mohammed stated: “Whoever committed this act is engaging in animal cruelty—a barbaric thing to do. Why would someone take the life of an animal in such a brutal manner?”
“Animals exist for our comfort and companionship. They do not harm us. A cat is a gentle creature.”
“Justice must be served for this cruel act, as animals cannot voice their pain.”
She emphasized that if the culprits are found, they shouldn’t just face fines but should also serve prison time, questioning what else they might be capable of if they could harm an animal.
The discovery of the cats occurred prior to a series of shootings on Tuesday evening, where three children were injured while playing outside due to ongoing gang violence.
The youngsters were in Agulhas Court when six armedsuspects approached on foot and opened fire; fortunately, they survived and were rushed to a hospital.
Mohammed remarked: “Such cruelty is unimaginable. Hanover Park is already a red zone plagued by gun violence and gang wars; how can someone still inflict such harm on five innocent cats?”
The Cape of Good Hope SPCA informed the Daily Voice that they are aware of the incident and are currently investigating.

This marks the second horrific incident involving cat killings on the Cape Flats this year, following the arrest of a man in Freedom Park, Ottery, in June.
A collaborative operation between SAPS and the Cape of Good Hope SPCA led to the apprehension of a 29-year-old suspect at his residence.
The authorities acted on a tip-off alleging that the suspect had killed over five kittens over a few months by suffocating them.
