Goodwood Social Housing Project Earns International Award

The DCI Social Housing Project in Goodwood has received global acclaim, winning a Silver award for “Social Project of the Year” at the International Project Management Association (IPMA) Global Project Excellence Awards 2025, hosted at the Axica Congress Centre in Berlin, Germany.

This honor was bestowed during the IPMA’s 60th Awards Gala, featuring projects from around the world vying for prestigious awards.

The recognition underscores the project’s contribution to increasing access to affordable, dignified housing and promoting inclusive communities in Cape Town.

Fezile Calana, Chief Executive Officer of DCI Community Housing Services, shared his pride, stating: “This award is for every partner and every family that believed in the vision of the DCI Social Housing Project.

“It demonstrates that when the private sector, government, and various agencies collaborate, we can create projects that transform lives. We are thrilled to bring this honor home.”

The Goodwood project illustrates DCI’s mission to “develop, own, and manage affordable rental housing options near employment and transport hubs, social amenities, and essential public services.”

Kelly Arendse attended the awards ceremony on behalf of the City of Cape Town, accepting the award for the project team.

This accolade contributes to Cape Town’s impressive performance at the IPMA Awards, where the City also secured Silver for PMO of the Year and Gold for Diversity, Inclusion & Equity.

The DCI Social Housing Project in Goodwood now serves as a leading example of excellence, innovation, and collaboration within South Africa’s social housing landscape.
