Kardashians Take Legal Action Against Ray J
Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner have initiated a defamation lawsuit against Ray J.
The action is aimed at securing unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
The reality stars have accused the 44-year-old musician—who famously dated Kardashian during her 2007 sex tape—of conducting a prolonged campaign against them, especially following his recent assertions that they are under federal investigation for racketeering.
As reported by “TMZ”, their attorney, Alex Spiro, claimed that Ray J is “unable to accept the conclusion of his brief relationship with Ms. Kardashian over 20 years ago.”
The lawsuit highlights remarks he made in the Tubi documentary “United States Vs. Sean Combs,” where he stated: “If you told me the Kardashians were being charged with racketeering, I might believe it.”
Kardashian and Jenner assert that this statement was “aimed at sowing doubt,” and that Ray J amplified his accusations during a livestream with Chrisean Rock on September 24, where it was claimed that the “Sexy Can I” artist falsely asserted that an investigation into the Kardashian family had begun.
He declared: “The feds are coming; there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s worse than Diddy.”
Their attorney emphasized that this is the first instance the pair has pursued a defamation claim.
Spiro remarked: “Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never filed a defamation claim before, nor have they been distracted by rumors—but this serious and false allegation left them with no option.”
In response, Ray J stated he will not back down, telling TMZ: “I will not be silenced.”
