Let the Kids Know Daddy’s Coming Home

Mandla Mandela has addressed the situation after being taken by Israelis while participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which aimed to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenge the blockade.

In a video posted by his wife, Nosekeni Rabia Mandela, he appeared to be in good spirits alongside fellow activists.

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) has indicated that they are scheduled to return on Wednesday.

Mandela stated: “This is Nkosi Zwelivelile on the Jordanian galaxy. Can you hear me? We are reporting that all our comrades, brothers and sisters on the GSF are safe and on their way home. Upon their arrival in their home countries, we will hold media briefings.”

He also made sure to comfort his wife and children, assuring them of his return.

He added: “To anyone receiving this message, please inform my wife that I am coming home. She must tell my kids, Mandela, Rolihlahla, and Nonhlanhla that daddy is coming home. I look forward to seeing you all. Inshallah.”

His wife expressed her joy when the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) confirmed that the activists would be returning.

“I am immensely thankful for the unwavering dedication of the GSF legal team, Adalah, the local GSF support crew, and Dirco,” she shared. “Their relentless efforts ensured the release of the South African delegation.”

The South African activists were cleared for release after diplomatic discussions between South African and Israeli officials.

“Hearing that my husband is finally returning fills my heart with pure joy, tears of relief, love, and gratitude. I can’t wait to hold you again, my love; see you soon.”
