Police Conduct Raid at Home of Suspended Deputy Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya

Authorities have refuted claims that suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya has been apprehended.

This comes in response to media reports suggesting that law enforcement personnel have encircled Sibiya’s residence, indicating that his arrest could be imminent.

National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe stated: “There are ongoing investigations as previously reported and discussed. This includes the ad hoc committee and the Madlanga Commission.”

“Currently, SAPS is not aware of any arrests made, including that of Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya.”

Officers are present at Sibiya’s residence, but the general has yet to come with his legal counsel.

Sibiya has recently come under scrutiny due to serious accusations from Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

Mkhwanazi alleged that Sibiya, suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, and others are involved in a syndicate allegedly hindering police functions in South Africa.

As developments unfold, Independent Online (IOL) will provide ongoing updates as more confirmed information becomes available.
