Kopseer for Petrol Pumps
Kopseer time is upon us again as the price for both petrol grades rises by R1.43 per litre this Wednesday.
On the other hand, diesel prices are set to decrease significantly, with 500ppm dropping by R3.25 and 50ppm by R2.62.
The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has confirmed these adjusted prices.
As a result, a litre of 95 unleaded petrol will now cost R27.19 at the coast and R28.06 in Gauteng, while the cheaper 93 grade increases to R27.95.
The wholesale price of diesel will now be R27.05 at the coast and R27.92 inland, while 50ppm will fall to R27.88 and R28.75, respectively.
The unaudited data released by the Central Energy Fund at the end of the month actually revealed a more optimistic outlook, suggesting that 95 unleaded petrol could have decreased by 46 cents, and diesel showed over-recoveries ranging from R4.93 to R5.56.
However, Treasury’s temporary fuel tax relief measures from April are set to expire in June, with R1.50 being re-added to the petrol tax and R1.96 to diesel.
An additional R1.50 will be included in July as the tax structure normalizes.
June’s fuel price adjustments follow record increases in previous months, triggered by US strikes on Iran that caused international oil prices to surge, further tightening the vital Strait of Hormuz oil route.
