‘We Never Trusted You’ – Gayton and Liam in Lelike Bekgeveg

LIAM Jacobs and Gayton McKenzie are engaging in a fierce clash.

Jacobs stirred up the South African political scene by rejoining the Democratic Alliance (DA) earlier this week, just over a year after moving to McKenzie’s Patriotic Alliance (PA).

After Jacobs’ announcement on Monday, McKenzie took to Facebook Live to caution him against discussing the PA.

He stated: “If you keep spreading falsehoods about the PA, we will handle you on social media.”

Speaking to his followers, the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture declared Jacobs untrustworthy.

McKenzie remarked: “We never trusted you in the PA. No one had faith in you at the PA. If you want to leave, go ahead. We will not discuss you…”

He emphasized: “Don’t interfere with this party. Join whoever suits you, but keep the PA out of it and refrain from lying about us.”

In response, Jacobs issued a statement on Tuesday, firing back.

He was straightforward: “I trusted Gayton. I believed the PA’s promises. I have realized I was deceived by untruths. I acknowledge my error.”

He accused the PA of “betraying its voters to the ANC,” claiming the party is essentially “a cheerleader.”

Jacobs also asserted that the PA fosters xenophobia, noting that “decisions within the PA are made by one individual.”

He pointed out that party members were directed to support National Coloured Congress leader Fadiel Adams, who is under investigation for fraud and obstructing justice.

Jacobs elaborated: “Coloured people are not criminals. A criminal culture does not define coloured culture. Yet, in the PA, we were told to defend Mr. Fadiel Adams, claiming he was arrested solely because of his skin color.”

“This is misleading; the charges against Adams stem from his own actions, and he must take responsibility. His choices do not reflect the coloured community.”

“The PA assumes all coloured individuals are alike; we are not. We embrace a rich, diverse culture. We are a varied people who cherish this country and strive for a brighter future for our children.”
