Police Focus on Khaye Following Triple Homicide
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has intensified efforts in Khayelitsha following a horrific triple homicide that occurred on Saturday.
Authorities responded to gunfire reports around 11:45 PM at a residence on Pama Road, Site B, where they found the remains of two men and a woman.
The victims were shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators from the Serious Violent Crime Unit are currently examining the case; initial details indicate that unidentified assailants approached the victims and opened fire before escaping the vicinity.
Colonel Andrè Traut stated that police have strengthened their presence in the region to ensure stability, deter further violence, and reassure the community while detectives follow up on all available leads.
This shooting incident coincides with the Western Cape police, alongside members of the South African National Defence Force and various law enforcement agencies, deploying over 500 personnel through Operation Prosper in designated crime hotspots throughout the province.
Traut mentioned: “From June 8 to 14, 2026, coordinated operations took place in Delft, Elsies River, Gugulethu, Harare, Khayelitsha, Kraaifontein, Manenberg, Mfuleni, Mitchells Plain, Muizenberg, Nyanga, Philippi, Philippi East, Samora Machel, and Steenberg.”
In another incident, a man was fatally shot near the Sasol garage at the intersection of New and Old Ottery Roads in Ottery on Saturday.
Images of the victim, lying in a pool of blood, spread across the internet overnight.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed: “The circumstances surrounding the shooting incident on Saturday afternoon, June 13, 2026, at approximately 4:30 PM, on Ottery Road, Ottery, where a 29-year-old male sustained fatal gunshot wounds, are under investigation.”
“Grassy Park police were alerted to the scene, where they discovered the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.”
“Reports indicate that the victim was sitting on a bench when he was approached by two unknown assailants who shot him before fleeing.”
“The attack is believed to be gang-related.”
