Arsenal Closely Approaching Premier League Title Ahead of Final Matchday

ARSENAL were on the verge of breaking a 22-year drought for the Premier League title after securing a 1-0 victory over Burnley on Monday.

Kai Havertz scored the lone goal but was fortunate to escape a second-half red card that could have turned the title race back in Manchester City’s favor.

The Gunners could be crowned champions as soon as Tuesday if City fails to win against Bournemouth.

Even if City overcomes the Cherries and triumphs over Aston Villa, Arsenal will clinch the title with a win at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Arsenal baas Mikel Arteta wysed: “One more to go.”

“We have done our part; it’s in our hands. Now we wait to see what unfolds, and then it’s time to prepare for the Palace match.”

Nevertheless, the slim victory margin against a Burnley side that has already been relegated gives City a glimmer of hope.

An Arsenal draw at Selhurst Park would allow City to take the title on goal difference if Pep Guardiola’s manne win their last two games.

Adding to the drama in the closing days of the season, reports surfaced on Monday suggesting Guardiola might depart City after a successful decade, following Villa’s visit to the Etihad on Sunday.

Burnley has managed only two points from their last 10 games, but they forced Arteta’s men to earn the win on another tense evening at the Emirates.

Arsenal had to rely on their set-piece prowess once more to break down Burnley.

Havertz leaped highest to connect with Saka’s corner delivery in the 37th minute, marking their 18th goal from set pieces in the league this season.

Arteta remarked: “The margin should have been greater, but we didn’t accomplish that.”

“We have demonstrated all season that when it’s time to defend and see the game through, we can do so effectively.”
